A rare guide to Oman's history, topography, and society. It was produced by the sultanate to introduce foreign visitors to the country and warns them of the customs and manners they should adhere to. This was produced sometime between 1968 and 1970, and there are no other copies on WorldCat published within this date range. This pamphlet covers a wide variety of topics such as climate, population, currency, languages, government, economy, and education. It opens with a colour map of Oman and contains many illustrations of the region. There is also a general guidance section, detailing prohibited activities during Ramadan, rules on importing motor vehicles, women's dress, and bans on smoking and drinking alcohol. Octavo, pp. 14 [14, blank]. Original pink wrappers, wire-stitched as issued, wrappers lettered in black, front wrapper decorated with the national emblem of Oman and an illustration of houses along the coast in black. With 7 half-tone photographic plates, colour map; 1 leaf listing towns and districts in which the Sultan has representatives at the end. Small pen correction to publisher's name on rear wrapper. Wrappers foxed, rear wrapper marked and scuffed, minor foxing internally, contents bright: a very good copy. Seller Inventory # 178633
