Both volumes with a half title. Contents of both volumes clean. Publisher's purple sand grained cloth backed boards, spines lightly sunned (as usual), upper covers with central gilt lozenge - System of Philosophy. Yellow glazed endpapers. Overall both very good plus copies. Herbert Spencer (1820-1903), philosopher, was born in Derby and educated at a day school near his home.
