About this Item
Two works bound in one. 8vo. Buff paper wrappers with manuscript title label to upper cover. The original green printed wrappers of Twenty-One Sonnets is bound in. Also bound in is a series of correspondence about the publication of the book, including copies of two letters from Stanley Scott to Allen and Unwin, and the two replies received from Philip Unwin. Stanley Scott has also bound in his MS copy of a letter from Eric Gill to Romney Green that mentions the book. Loosely laid in is an ALS from Romney Green to some friends, dated "Xmas 1913", 4pp. A very good copy, a tear to the bound-in upper cover. An uncommon work. Romney Green was primarily a fine-arts cabinet maker responsible for, among other works, the shelves, tables and benches of Harold Monro's Poetry Bookshop. He was also a "lifelong scribbler and poet, much influenced by Morris" and undoubtedly encouraged in his poetic writings by his proximity to Monro. Seller Inventory # 44791
