Good. … and particularly adapted to the Letters on the Elements of Botany [addressed to a Lady by the celebrated Jean Jacques Rousseau]. Third edition. Plates drawn and engraved by Fred. P. Nodder. In this copy the plates are hand-coloured (some copies have plates uncoloured). The plates mainly offer segments of corollas, but a few, show a touch of art. Thomas Martyn (1735-1825), professor of botany at the University of Cambridge, believed this volume of plates would bring an understanding of the Linnean system to a popular audience.
