About this Item
Survivals from the era when the flag-fall rate stood at no more than 1.50 Hong Kong Dollars and when each mile cost an additional dollar. One plate notes that passage of heavy hand luggage costs an extra 50 cents per article - the same tariff applies to each animal and bird. Taxis began operating in Hong Kong in 1923 and the industry grew steadily after the Second World War. The distinctive red, green, and blue liveries were introduced in the 1970s, when fares were also standardized. Three aluminium plates (900 x 257 mm), each printed in black, two in English and one in English and Chinese, two with license plate annotations in pen. Lightly rubbed and dented, a little loss to text on one example: a very good collection. Seller Inventory # 174252
