Based on four years of interviews with Steve, this unconventional biography reveals the personal stories, sorrows and joys that continue to inspire the man behind the Red Green legacy.
About the Author: STEVE SMITH Steve Smith has had a comedy series on the air for more 30 years, beginning with Smith and Smith, a popular variety show that featured Steve and his wife, Morag. His most successful project was The Red Green Show (RedGreen.com), which he starred in, produced and co-wrote for fifteen seasons. Steve completed 300 episodes of the show along with several TV specials and a feature film. The Red Green Show is a fan favourite on Canadian television and also in the U.S. where it airs on more than eighty Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) stations. Steve has received numerous awards and citations from the entertainment industry and is also a recipient of the Order of Canada (2005), Canada s highest civilian honour. Steve s biography, We re All in This Together (WereAllinThisTogether.ca), was released in November of 2008 and co-written with Mag Ruffman. Steve is the author of three other books Red Green Talks Cars: A Love Story (1997, co-written with Rick Green), The Red Green Book: Wit and Wisdom of Possum Lodge (1997, co-written with Rick Green) and Red Green s Duct Tape is Not Enough (2002). Steve, a grandfather, is sort of retired - doing occasional personal appearances, performing in a singing trio, playing a lot of golf, working on his boat and writing books. He is happily married to Morag, his sweetheart for the past 43 and-a-half years. MAG RUFFMAN Mag Ruffman is a television producer, writer, actress and building contractor. She spent seven years in a corset as Olivia Dale on CBC s beloved Road to Avonlea, and five seasons in a tool belt as host, creator and producer of the fix-it classic A Repair to Remember (78 episodes) and the Gemini-nominated workshop series Anything I Can Do (52 episodes), which now airs worldwide. She also created and hosted the groundbreaking relationship show Men On Women (44 episodes) for W Network. Mag s weblog can be found online at ToolGirl.com, and a searchable database of her syndicated newspaper articles is available at HomeEnvy.com. Mag is also the author of How Hard Can It Be?, a collection of projects and repairs for beginners (McClelland and Stewart, 2003 and Beyond Words, 2005). Mag's new publishing company, ToolGirl Press, released We re All In This Together, an intimate conversation about life with Red Green creator Steve Smith, in 2008. Mag is a national spokesperson with Habitat for Humanity Canada and in her spare time she tortures her ego by playing golf.
