Narrative of the author’s year in North Greenland, 1937-38, during which he sledged across Ellesmere, Axel Heilberg and Ringnes Islands and, with R.A. Hamilton, surveyed the southeast coast of Ellesmere Island. His narrative includes an entertaining and informative account of the Polar Eskimos, of travelling by the Eskimo method of living off the land; remarks on the birds, and animals seen on Ellesmere, on the geography of Heilberg and the Ringnes Islands; and the discovery of Haig-Thomas Island.
