Brown boards with elaborate designs on covers. Gilt titling on spine is sharp but with minor fading in places. This scarce theological work is well-bound with normal bumps. No foxing in text. FEP has a small paste-down bookplate for Belle Vue, one of the great old plantations in Halifax County, Virginia, that is still in use. This work was first published anonymously but actually the work of Thomas Sherlock, a member of the Privy council who served as an Anglican bishop for 33 years. This work was first published in 1729 in response to Thomas Woolston's 'Discourses on the Miracles', and soon ran to fourteen editions. This is the only copy of this imprint on Web when listed. Pls see pictures.
