He is noted in church history as an important contributor to Christian apologetics. Since the Deist controversy Sherlock's argument for the evidences of the resurrection of Jesus Christ has continued to interest later Christian apologists such as William Lane Craig and John Warwick Montgomery. Internally the pages are generally bright with some occasional spotting, particularly to the plates. The binding is firm with the boards and all internal pages attached, although the front hinge is starting. There is some staining to the frontis and title page.
