Item description from seller

[Town Guide] SIXTEENTH ISSUE. Octavo (19 x 12cm), pp.[8] xii, 336 [4]. With 13 engraved plates including a frontispiece and calligraphic dedication, and a folding table of inter-town distances to rear. Recently re-backed in plain brown card, with remains of original brown card laid over, and original limp marbled card covers. All edges untrimmed. Penultimate leaf of text, pp.333-34, cancelled. Otherwise a lovely crisp, clean copy internally, with minimal spotting to plates. Wear to plain binding, restored to an attractive, practical condition. Very good. Jasper Sprange published the first Tunbridge Wells Guide in 1780. Having been over-printed, the 1797 edition was re-issued a number of times over the following decade with fresh title pages and other small emendations. Goulden, 'Kent Town Guides', 16.
