Two pieces of music, notated by Léo Roy. The first piece is named Indian Lullaby and appears to be arranged by Léo Roy. It is dated to 1929 . At the top is written,' Copy for Miss Mona Bates'. The second piece is 'Mazurka' poeme d 'Emile Nelligan, Musique de M. Léo Roy . The piece is again for Mlle Mona Bates. It is signed on the rear, Léo Roy and dated 9-xii-34. Léo Roy (1887-1974) was a prolific composer, musician and writer from Québec. Most of his works are now held at Laval University archives. Ms. Bates was a Canadian pianist, who performed at both Massey Hall in Toronto and Aeolian Hall in New York City. She would later open a music studio and her some of her students became prominent musicians. Interesting item, perhaps something that would benefit from some further research.…
