An early impression that appears to have been purchased along with the other two volumes of the trilogy, and kept together as a set (see my listing for "The Return of the King"). Red cloth, 352 pp, color map of Middle-Earth included but not tipped in. Spine cocked and sunned, torn almost completely down the back hinge, small chip at top, corners worn, minor edge wear, a little rubbing and soiling, some discoloration on back board, Owner's name on front end paper, interior is clean and unmarked. "In the First Part of The Lord of the Rings, 111-year-old Bilbo Baggins passed along his magical ring to his orphaned nephew, Frodo - unwittingly setting its original owner, the horrible Gollum, on his trail.
