Later printing, with the sequel "The Story of Toby," not included in the very first edition, but included in previous printings from the original publishers. This is the first printing of Typee by George Routledge. BAL does not go into this printing, discussing only the various American and British printings up to 1849. This is an uncommonly nice copy in original cloth. Calling card used in lieu of a book plate attached to front pastedown endpaper, with an impenetrable five-letter abbreviation of some kind in the lower right corner. Publisher's catalog of 32 pp. appended at end, not including this title. Routledge also reprinted Omoo. The two titles are commonly found bound together. It is rare to find such a nice copy of Typee alone in publisher's cloth, especially one so attractive.
