FIRST EDITION THUS. 8vo. 7.75 x 5 inches. [viii] + 939 pp. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper, which has only very minor wear at head and tail of spine. A few small stains on boards and some foxing of edges and flyleaves. Traces of removal of library stamp on title page and verso and of label on rear flyleaf ; otherwise a very good clean copy. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. The first post-war Bodley Head edition of Ulysses, 1960, redesigned and newly reset, it proved influential in making the novel widely available in Britain and also inspired other publishers. At the end is a table of the corresponding pages in the old (1937) and new Bodley Head editions. This copy contains signs of a removed library stamp and label as detailed above, but is noteworthy for its otherwise clean condition and particulary for its fine dust wrapper. FICTION NOVELS LIT.
