Blue ink ownership to fly-leaf. Quite heavy toning, spotting and general soiling to edges and endpapers, otherwise internally clean. Cloth shows moderate wear, and some white spots to boards. Jacket also shows moderate wear and white spots, as well as toning to spine, and tape stains to flaps and reverse (tape now removed). Good. This experimentalist novel, retelling Homer's 'Odyssey' in a contemporary setting within the course of a single day, introduced Joyce's now infamous use of complex stream-of-consciousness interior monologues. Love or loathe it, 'Ulysses' has been described as the most important novel in the English language.
