Contemporary calf, raised bands, newly rebacked with the old label relaid, a small attack of worming at the front lower inner corner affecting the inside of the board and the first 80 leaves though rapidly diminishing to a single small hole after five leaves, a small brown mark visible in the lower gutter from page 400 onwards. *SOTHERAN Bibliotheca-Chemico Mathematica v.I, #284. BARROW was professor of Greek and then of Mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was considered second only to Newton in his mathematical ability, the latter taking the chair after he had retired to concentrate on religious matters. His best work was in the area of differential calculus.
