Original engraving by Paulus Pontius after a painting by Gerrard ter Borch. Amsterdam 1648. Plate measures: 26,5 x 16,5 cm. Sheet measures: 27,5 x 18 cm. Slight foxing, mainly to edges. Tear repaired with paper on verso. * Vobiscus Fortunatus Plempius was born in Amsterdam in 1601. He studied at Louvain, Leiden & Padua where he obtained a doctorate in medicine in 1623. He was appointed Professor at Louvain in 1633 and died there in 1671. Seller Inventory # 704404
