[Military Theory] NEW REVISED EDITION, sixth impression thus. Complete in three volumes. Octavo (22 x 14 x 10cm), pp.xxxviii; 314; pp.vi; 415; pp.vi; 348. Publisher's red cloth with gilt titles to spine. With the typographic dust-jackets titled in red and black. Blue ink ownership of G. Barnett to front fly-leaf of the first volume only, with light spotting to edges and endpapers, and a green Foyles label to each front paste-down. A light tobacco scent, otherwise internally clean. Jackets price-clipped, with light general wear, and some toning to spines. Very good. 'Vom Kriege' was composed after the Napoleonic wars, between 1816 and 1830, and published posthumously by the author's wife Marie von Brühl in 1832. It is one of the most important treatises on political-military analysis and strategy ever written, and remains both controversial and influential on strategic thinking.
