Four volumes. Contemporary calf with gilt decorated spines. Large quarto. lvi, 788; 681; 610 & 670pp. The eighth edition. With engraved portrait of Locke and folding plate "Analysis of Mr. Locke's Doctrine of Ideas" in Vol. 1. Edited by Bishop Law with a life of the author and other original material by him as well as a number of new letters of Locke's. A good set of this work with some staining and wear to the covers. A few of the hinges are cracked but all covers are secure. All of the covers have some staining, particularly Volume 1. Volume 1's spine is heavily chipped and part of its label is chipped away. The text in each volume is in very good condition with no chips or tears. There is some staining to the endsheets of each volume and Volume 1 has some heavy staining up to the title page and to the second half of the text in the upper margin. The last 60 or so pages of Vol. 3 also have some staining. Foreign postage will be extra and expensive on this heavy set weighing nearly 30 pounds. Seller Inventory # 11924
