A finely bound set, containing the classic poems The Rape of the Lock, An Essay on Man, and The Dunciad. 8 vols, duodecimo (163 x 100 mm). With engraved portrait frontispiece by C. Picart, after Gardner. Contemporary green straight-grain morocco, spines lettered in gilt, compartments and boards tooled in gilt and blind, Shell pattern marbled papers, edges gilt, brown bookmarkers. Mid-20th-century bookseller's ticket to vol. I rear pastedown, contemporary bookplates. Gilt bright, spines gently sunned, faint marks to boards, corners a touch bumped, sporadic foxing, occasional chips to fore edges. A very good set.
