Sixth Dyce edition; 10 vols, 8vo (22 x 14.5 cm); contemporary red full straight-grained calf, gilt ruled and blind rolled boards, spines lettered in gilt in six gilt compartments, all edges and endpapers marbled, spines a little sunned, touch of rubbing to extremities, a very good set. A handsomely bound edition of Shakespeare edited by the renowned scholar, Alexander Dyce. Alexander Dyce (1798 â " 1869), Scottish dramatic editor and literary historian; his wide reading in Elizabethan literature enabled him to explain much that was formerly obscure in Shakespeare. While preserving all that was valuable in former editions, Dyce added much fresh matter. His Glossary was the most exhaustive to date. Seller Inventory # 122982
