VOLUME ONE ONLY. Quite a lot of creasing and tears, particularly to back panel, of unclipped dustwrapper, minor bumping to spine ends of green boards, gilt titles on spine of same have faded. Some yellowing to the pages, some old pencil makings in the text, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. The first volume of the diaries and letters of Dr John Kirk, who accompanied the British Government Expedition to the Zambesi of 1858-63 which was led by David Livingstone, Kirk serving as medical officer and botanist. This first volume covers the period from March 1858 to December 1860. 317pp, 10 b&w illustrations. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
