Jack E. Leonard

I am the co-founder and President of the Environmental Management Institute located in Indianapolis. The Institute is dedicated to helping persons of all kinds prudently manage hazardous materials. Since 1990 the Institute has been the premiere environmental training center in the Midwest, covering specialized training from OSHA HAZWOPER specialties to EPA- and state-approved asbestos and lead training, to regular offerings of the preparatory course for the CHMM exam.

I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Harvard, a Bachelor for Divinity from Southern Methodist University, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biology from California Institute of Technology. He has published in a variety of journals including Journal of the American Chemical Society, Science, and Journal of Physical Chemistry.

I was recently elected a fellow of the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management and I am very proud of my association with this professional body and the fine authors who contributed to Managing Hazardous Materials.

Before coming to Indianapolis, I helped start the SUNY College at Purchase, directed the organic chemistry laboratory teaching program at Texas A&M University and taught chemistry and physics at Blinn College.

I am blessed with a supportive wife of over forty years, a wonderful group of employees who give their best for our clients, and the best job in the world -- following my heart by helping adults realize how a deeper realization of the properties the materials they work with them to have greater capability of dealing with them and a healthy and realistic fear that can keep them out of trouble.
