Larry Roper

Betty and Larry have been married for over 54 years and have worked through difficulties and hazards of modern times. They are high school sweethearts and have been Christians since early in their relationship. Larry played in sports in high school and it was there he met Betty in his senior year. She was pretty and vivacious and would hunt and fish with him. Betty grew up in a home with two sisters. Her dad was a life-long railroad man who took good care of his family. They went on family picnics and Betty spent time swimming and playing sports. She was a drill team leader and earned a 4.0 GPA in high school. She earned a National Merit scholarship for four years at a University of her choice.

Larry and Betty got married after three years of dating. They continued to go to college together and it was during this time they began to live for the Lord and let Him guide their lives.

Larry's degrees were in wildlife management BS)and Forest Science (MS). He worked in the wildlife field until 1976 when they went back to school (seminary)to prepare for missions. They joined Send, International in Central Alaska in church planting. Larry went back to school to earn a PhD in counseling.

Along the way they hunted, fished, showed horses and raised three children and developed a counseling ministry. They are retired and reside in Gering, Nebraska.
