Chip Donohue

Chip Donohue, PhD, is the Dean of Distance Learning and Continuing Education at Erikson Institute in Chicago, where he is leading the development of an online Master's degree, certificates and continuing education programs. He is also the Director of the TEC (Technology in Early Childhood) Center at Erikson. He is a Senior Fellow of the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children's Media at Saint Vincent College, where he co-chaired the working group that revised the 2012 NAEYC & Fred Rogers Center Joint Position Statement on Technology and Interactive Media as Tools in Early Childhood Programs serving children from Birth through Age 8.

Chip is internationally recognized as a leader in the innovative use of technology and distance-learning methods in teacher education and professional development to increase access, enhance learning, and improve teaching practices. Since 2001, he has partnered with Selena Fox of New Zealand Tertiary College to develop ecelearn, an innovative online approach for early childhood teacher education in New Zealand, Australia, India, the Philippines and China. In 2012 he was invited to lecture at the Open University of China about effective practices for online teacher education. In 2013-2014, he served as an international advisor to the Ako Aotearoa New Zealand eLearning Guidelines Revision Reference Group. He holds an appointment as a Teaching Affiliate in the Graduate School at Loyola University.

Chip is a member of: the National Advisory Board for the HITN Early Learning Collaborative; the National Advisory Committee of the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood National Center; the National Education Advisory Committee for Bright Horizons Family Solutions; the International Advisory Group for the World Forum on Early Care and Education; and the International Advisory Committee for the Science of Early Child Development. In 2012 he received the first Bammy Award and the Educators Voice Award as Innovator of the Year from the Academy of Education Arts & Sciences.
