Titles on spine & upper board, New York State seal on lower right upper board, all in bright as new gilt. Book with only minor flaws, those confined to the covers: (1) spine ends & tipss scuffed, upper tips lightly bumped. (2) spine faintly sunned. Binding tight, book tends to stay closed when stood on its spine. Seldom read, if at all. Most photos are of monuments and officers but there are a few of the fighting soldiers themselves. Front inner hinge held solely by two strings. Otherwise binding as tight as new. Janin has written a 15 page intro. GOOD TO VERY GOOD full red morocco covers over FINE contents.AEG.

Frontis struck from an original Blake etching copyright Mar 8, 1825 by Will Blake N3 Fountain Court, Strand. Titled in the etching "When the morning stars sang together, and all the Sons of God shouted for Joy", titled below the etching "The Sons of God. Design fromn the book of Job." Tho struck 70 years later image still bright & clear. There's no evidence the plate was reworked. The last section on Davis has 4 steel engravings by him. GOOD book. TEG. Gilt lettered marroon cloth. Bevelled boards.

Very Good book & DJ. 1st ed. French folded Sangorski leaves.

Cover edges aged a bit. Pastedowns glue browned a bit. DJ edgeworn & the front only (NOT rear) cover age browned. Few 1" closed tears, a few 1/2" max chips.

No tp or cp date but limitation page dated Dec. 1946. Bright cover. Spine heel with a 1/2" closed tear, top with 1/8" tears. Other tips rubbed. VG wraps. Lightly worn covers. All corner tips free of even minute scuffing. BUT BUT BUT: (1) Spine top with a crease line. (2) A faded area on back cover next to spine. (3) A tiny white spot on lower back cover. These three possible flaws likely from the manufacturing process. Interior flawless, pastedowns free of any hint of glue browning. Pristine, immaculate leaves. DJ edgeworn with a 2" closed tear through the edge of the first "L" of "Little People". Other shorter closed tears and many 1/4" chips. DJ uniformly sunned. AS NEW book, VG DJ. DJ paper label as flawless as that of book.

Pristine paste on front cover label. AS NEW text block. No trace of even a hint of aging, foxing or any other stain. Wonderful DJ. Bit of aging of margins. Six 1.5" closed tears, several shorter & a few 1/4 chips. FINE book, NEAR FINE DJ. AS NEW text block. Bright white DJ.

Pristine book, cover to cover & top to bottom. 12"x9", 63pp. Book cover a pale blue with a large white and pastel colored paste on front cover paper label. An absolutely flawless book. The white DJ shows ZERO cosmetic flaws but there is edgewear in the form of three 1.5" closed tears, a few @ 1" and several @ 1/4". DJ inner bottom edges with some light browning, which did not transfer to book's lower edges. AS NEW book, VG+ DJ, both in a glassine DJ. Bright, white DJ.

Hardcover. 9 page list of illustrations (illustrator). 1st edition. NEAR FINE book. 1st ed. PRISTINE from pastedown to pastedown & all three text block edges. Conkey seal on cp. 10"x6",583pp. Bright boards & spine, no spine sunning. Photos and Goodwin drawings in black & white. IMMACULATE inside. ZERO aging, foxing, marginalia, or any other kind of stain. Both pastedowns and 1st & last eps likely as white as new. Nor is there any glue browning at pastedown gutters. All three text block edges just as bright. Cover gilt likely bright as new. Book's two types of flaws are minor and confined to the covers. (1) All extrems scuffed but not worn. Wear being when the cloth is worn through to the underlying cardboard. (2) Spine has a few bubbled spots, one being a third of the way from the top. A professional conservator could eliminate these cover flaws. LASTLY this book stays closed when stood on its spine. It's a pretty safe bet it has never been read. NEAR FINE book, no DJ. 1st ed. Green cloth.
