Siegmund Albich studierte an der Karls-Universität, wurde 1387 zum Doktor der Medizin promoviert und war danach Leibarzt König Wenzels IV., auf dessen Betreiben er 1412 Erzbischof von Prag wurde. Im Zuge der durch das päpstliche Schisma und die Verurteilung von Jan Hus bedingten Unruhen legte er sein Amt allerdings schon nach wenigen Monaten nieder und widmete sich wieder der Medizin, in der er unter anderem als Verfasser mehrerer wichtiger Schriften Bedeutendes leistete.
