Engraved title & verse beneath the portrait reads: PHILIP. HECQUET D. REG. ET ANCIEN DOIEN DE LA FAC. DE MED. DE PARIS. Ne a Abbeville le 11. Fev. 1661, et Mort a Paris le 11 Avril 1737. Dans son art il n'oublia rien / Pour sonder a fond la nature; / Mais la Science du chrestien / Lui parut toujours la plus sure.
