Musikdirektor ebd., 1847 Kapellmeister am Stadttheater Leipzig und Dirigent der Gewandhauskonzerte, 1860 Hofkapellmeister in Dresden und 1874 sächs. Gneralmusikddirektor, Mitherausgeber der Werke von Bach, Händel, Haydn u. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.
