Ann, daughter of John Wallis, mathematician and cryptographer (1616-1703), was born in 1656. In 1675 she married John Blencowe (1642-1726), who represented Brackley, Northamptonshire, in Parliament from 1690-1695, and was raised to the Bench in 1696.
