Written after the celebrated Crawford Scandal of 1886, which resulted in Dilke losing his seat in parliament, and becoming a music-hall figure of fun as a result of the revelations of his adulterous behaviour.

Spine now almost completely lacking, volume remains sturdy, toning and some offsetting internally, including from old newspaper clipping at pp. 68-9: a good copy.
