Basil Davenport, 19051966, was an American author and literary critic. Though usually a writer of science-fiction novels, this work was published alongside another horror anthology Ghostly Tales to Be Told, as his only foray into the genre. He was a member of the Baker Street Irregulars, a club for Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts, and the Hydra Club, a group of science-fiction professionals who met during the 1940s.
