Add to basketPaperback. Condition: Fine+. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine+. First Edition. AROUND HELSTON AND THE LIZARD. Ewart C. Jones. St Catherine Press, London 1948 First edition 66pp Illustrated Paperback. This copy is in remarkably well preserved condition. Both the book and the dustwrapper map are in FINE+ condition. This little series of Footpath Guides were, for their time, an innovative publishing phenomena in that they chose local people who were intimate with the specific regions. The dustwrapper was the map of the area that the book covered and they were just the right size for a hip pocket. They were lavishly illustrated with black and white photographs and it is these photographs that lend the series added charm in that they were taken in the immediate post war period when the beauty spots were yet to be blighted by hotels and bungalow blight. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples.
