Esemplare nel terzo stato su quattro, con l'indirizzo editoriale di Stefano Scolari al posto di quello originale di Bertelli, rarissimo e noto in un solo esemplare alla Biblioteca Apostolica. Ottimo esemplare con ampi margini. La carta deriva da quella di Cristoforo Sorte del 1560, prima grande descrizione cinquecentesca del Bresciano, con una evidente rotazione di circa 90? Notevoli sono l'impianto idrografico e quello orografico, assai dettagliati e precisi. Il grande cartografo Almagi? ne parla cosÏ "Questa carta era precedentemente sconosciuta. L'unico esemplare conosciuto Ë il presente. Anche questa puÚ considerarsi come derivazione indiretta dell'originale del SorteÖ". STATO III/IV. Acquaforte e bulino, mm 336x262, impressa su carta vergata priva di filigrana. Esemplare in perfetto stato di conservazione con pieni margini assai ampi. Stato IV/IV con l'indirizzo aggiunto "Stefano Scolari forma in Venetia" nel cartiglio sotto al titolo in alto a destra, mentre in alto a sinistra resta l'indirizzo di Bertelli "In Venetia Appresso Andrea Bertelli". In alto al centro un leone marciano entro cartiglio domina il territorio. In basso appare una scala di miglia 10. La carta di Bertelli Ë chiaramente derivata dall'opera di Paolo Rover, basata sul manoscritto di Giovanni Pinadello, di cui Ë una esatta replica ed Ë rarissima, essendone conosciuto solo un esemplare alla Vaticana. Presenta la data 1601 visibilmente corretta, tanto da far presupporre una tiratura precedente, che Almagi? suppone sia il 1591. Esiste un terzo stato pubblicato da Bertelli nel 1604. Marinelli registra anche questo stato di Scolari conoscendone un esemplare nella biblioteca del Conte Agosti a Belluno, mentre un altro esemplare Ë stato rintracciato in una raccolta fattizia alla Marciana.Marinelli (1881), n. 743; Tooley (1983), 553b; Bifolco-Ronca, Cartografia e topografia italiana del XVI secolo, tav. 966 Nr.cat: 8030.

La PRIMA CARTA a stampa del territorio di Verona, dedicata al conte Nicola Rambaldo. Carta corografica del territorio veronese eseguita da Paolo Forlani veronese, editore ed incisore attivo a Venezia, che si sottoscrive nella dedica, derivata da un modello di Bernardino Brugnoli a cui attinse poi anche Abraham Ortelius per la carta del veronese del 1578 inserita nel suo celebre atlante "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum". Forlani nella dedica spiega i motivi che lo spinsero a realizzare la sua pubblicazione: "Dopo ch'io faccio questo esercizio di intagliar stampe ho sentito pi? volte moltiÖdolersi che una cosa si bella et rara, quale Ë il territorio veronese, non sia stato comunicata al mondo per via di una stampa. Il che per certo mi accendeva di desiderio di pormi una volta con ogni studio a questa impresa. PerÚ essendomi stata fatta gratia di questa forma assai comoda d'esso territorio descritta co' propri nomi fedelmente et diligentemente da M. Bernardin Brognolo perito de' Beni IncultiÖho voluto soddisfacendo al desiderio et debito mioÖvedere questo bellissimo territorio intagliato in rame e stampato" Brugnoli o Brugnolo fu architetto e perito dei Beni Inculti, prima di passare nel 1580 al servizio dei Gonzaga; si rese autore di una serie di accurati rilievi del Veronese basandosi per la parte occidentale sulla carta del Bresciano di Cristoforo Sorte, mentre per il resto del territorio presumibilmente si servÏ di documenti manoscritti, che aveva potuto esaminare grazie alla sua carica. Della carta esistono ben 8 differenti stati a partire dalla prima stesura del 25 ottobre 1574; fu poi stampata con modifiche di data e di indirizzi editoriali da Pinargenti (stato II), Andrea Bertelli (III), Valegio (IV), con data 1596 (V), con data 1612 (VI), Scolari 1612 (VII) e Lovisa con data 1700 (VIII). London before the Great Fire Copper engraving, printed on four sheets, joined, a few small tears, and some areas of loss skillfully reinstated in facsimile. Stefano Scolari's rare and stunning panorama of London, showing the city before the Great Fire, extending from Whitehall to St Katherine-by-the-Tower. Scolari's print is based on an example by Nicolas Visscher printed in 1616, which was often used as a starting point for pre-Fire panoramas. Ralph Hyde identifies Scolari's print as a later variant of Franco Vallegio's interpretation of Visscher's panorama, with the plate considerably reworked. It is rare to see a surviving panorama from this period: their size, and the fact that they were normally issued without wrappers, made them particularly vulnerable. Although Scolari reworked the skyline, he retained the decoration in the sky. The title is held on a banderole by two angels, with two figures of Fame blowing trumpets bearing the coats of arms of the royal family and the City of London. The heads of executed criminals are visible on the gate to London Bridge. St Paul's Cathedral appears in the pre-Fire state, without the Wren dome. Stefano Scolari (fl.1643-1695) was an engraver and publisher working in Venice during the second half of the sixteenth century. He was well known for reworking the plates of other mapmakers. BM. Title at top border with "Willem Janss Blaeuw Men Vintse te coop tot Amsterdam op 't Water inde Sonnewyser" placed lower left (paper a bit browned, slight paper loss at edges). Italian edition, first published by Blaeu in 1646. With EXCEEDINGLY RARE HAND-COLORING. Nearly identical in arrangement, decoration, and content to the Blaeu state. Though the Italian copy does not include a reference to publisher or engraver, it likely originated from the Venetian publisher Stefano Scolari, who engraved this copy of "Nova Et Accurata Totius Germaniae Tabula" to use as a model for a complete new set of copperplates. Over the course of his career, Scolari published many copy engravings of decorative wall maps of both Italian and foreign origin during the mid-seventeenth century. ONLY THREE OTHER COPIES OF THIS MAP ARE KNOWN TO SCHILDER ("Monumenta Cartographica Neerlandica") in Augsburg Uni Bibl, Harry Ranson Humanities Research Center of the Uni or Texas (formerly Kraus), and the Niewodnicszanski Collection. Willem Janszoon Blaeu was born at Alkmaar in 1571 and trained in astronomy and the sciences by Tycho Brahe, the celebrated Danish astronomer. In 1599, Blaeu began to make globes and instruments. However, it was not long before the business expanded to include publishing maps, topographical works and books of sea charts. His great skill was recognised by the Dutch East India Company and in 1630 he was appointed their official cartographer, giving him access to the most accurate geographical information available. During his prodigious career Willem Blaeu was to produce several atlases including the Atlantis Appendix of 1630. Five years later, the first two volumes of his planned world atlas, Atlas Novus or the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum were issued.
