El volumen recorre su origen en Bitinia, su relación con Constancio Cloro, la conversión, el título de Augusta, el viaje a Tierra Santa, la santidad atribuida por la tradición y la gloria póstuma de la santa, con un apéndice dedicado a Santa Helena y la invención de la Cruz. Más que una simple vida piadosa, el libro interesa por su lugar en la hagiografía católica francesa de comienzos del siglo XX y por el modo en que cruza historia antigua, tradición cristiana, culto a las reliquias y construcción espiritual de una figura central del cristianismo imperial.
