The Rustaveli Theater is the largest and one of the oldest theaters in Georgia founded in 1887 and names after Rustaveli, Georgia's national poet, in 1921. presents scenery from six performances of the theater featuring avant-garde productions. The director of most productions was Kote Mardzhanishvili (1872-1933), Russian and Georgian director, founder of the Georgian national theater. The stage designer of many performances was Irakli Gamrekeli (1894-1943), one of the most important design figures of the experimental modernism in Georgia and chief figure in the H2SO4 group. It includes 6 full-page photos of stage sets, mostly attributed to him. Author Aleksandr Duduchava was the Director of the Tbilisi Academy of the Arts from 1927 to 1930.
