Condition: Good. Hand colored lithograph. 55.5 x 40.5 cm. (sheet). Good. several sheet creases.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Illustrated Edition. Unpaginated. 12 prints. Descriptions in French/English. 16 x 22. A rare find-- two paper-bound works ("Education" and "Recreation") custom-bound with the original light pink paper covers. Artist Alfred Geniole captures the French learning the art of dancing, horsemanship and fencing, then enjoying a game of Blind-man's bluff, picnicking ("rustic meal") and something called Hot-cockles, interestingly illustrated. The colors are subtle though with the velvet colors of red and green still bright and some gold as well. The boards are chocolate brown with gold lettering and a box line front and reverse. The outer cloth spine is strongly intact but the covers show tearing in the upper left-hand corner with a bent lower right-hand corner. Corners are indeed bumped with shelf wear evident. Inside front cover has previous owner's name in ink and pencil markings in upper left-hand corner. Prints themselves are in very good condition but pages are foxed or smudged along edges and several are loosening from the text block which is pulling away from the covers.
