Very good copy overall; spine evenly faded to dark tan, hinges and some cover edges lightly rubbed, offset from turn-ins onto endpapers, interior otherwise fine.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Many of the 118 pages unopened. One of 252 copies, though not one of the 148 including a page from Caxton's imperfect 1478 Ashburham "Canterbury Tales," as we find neither that laid-in page, nor any rear pocket intended to hold same. Slipcase complete as to sides, top and bottom, but missing its narrow backstrip. The "Caxton binding" frontispiece plate and the 24 other called-for illustrative examples of Caxton's printing are present and still protected by their tissue guards. Two-page prospectus addressed to members of the Caxton Club folded and laid in. 118 pp. including Index, now reduced from $1,950.

23x28 cm. (9x11 Inch.) Mixed media painting of a man in a top hat and long coat facing right and holding a horse riding whip. The paper is a thick and smooth card stock with light age toning. The back is a light beige colour with some spotting and foxing. Title is inscribed lightly on the back. Painting is in excellent condition with only minor wear to the corners. Unique little water colour and pencil painting of Captain A Gordon Duff, who is mentioned in the Asiatic Journal.
