Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Izon Fiai Fun Ijo Cookery Book By A.O.Timitimi published by the Institute of African Studies, University Of Ibadan RARE paperback 1971. One of the earliest books written about Nigerian cooking featuring food eaten everyday by ordinary people and not just the elite. The book is divided into three sections: 1) what a typical Ijo kitchen is like and what can be found in it 2) the spices, vegetables, fruits and foodstuffs used in everyday cooking - most of which are cultivated by the people themselves or grown in the wild. 3) the method of preparing the food which are indigenous to the people. This is the one and only edition of the book published, which makes this copy very rare, especially because academic press printings of this nature in the early 1970s were typically small and intended for research purposes rather than commercial mass production. The book is particularly significant as it is one of the earliest published documentations of Niger Delta cuisine. Book is in very good condition with no writing or highlighting.
