Croyez vous bien que je n'ai trouvé le nom de ce brave homme qui a pourtant fait là un livre de véritable [ .] érudition dans aucune de nos biographies. [ . ] Ce farceur de Didot à qui j'écrivis quand il réédita il y a cinq ans la biographie universelle de Michaud, pour lui signaler plusieurs noms importants du Poitou, oubliés par Michaud lui-même, me répondit qu'il ne pouvait réparer cette omission, attendu que "tous ses articles étaient clichés, c.a.d qu'ils seraient cent fois réédités de la même façon [etc. ]".
