A detailed criticism of Voltaire's philosophical and religious ideas by Abbe Guyon (1699-1771) , the historical writer whose work was severely criticized by Voltaire. Guyon does not explicitly mention the "Encyclopedie", but its authors obviously figure among the enemies he targets. The work (1st publ. 1759) is also attributed to Claude Villaret. La Henriade : portrait de Voltaire en Frontispice, feuillet de titre, feuillet de table, VI (2) 252 pages, illustrées de 12 planches gravées dont une dépliante (bataille de Fontenoy), déchirure marginale dans la planche du chant X (sans atteindre le texte) ; Système du philosophe chrétien : feuillet de titre, feuillet de table, 37 (3) pages, en-tête gravé par Charles-Nicolas Cochin (signé "C. Cochin filius"). Voltaire raconte ici le siège de Paris (1589-1590) par Henri III et Henri de Navarre, dans un récit mêlant faits historiques et éléments merveilleux. Le poème de Fontenoy a été écrit "à chaud" pour célébrer la victoire française de la bataille de Fontenoy (11 mai 1745) lors de la guerre de Succession d'Autriche. Voltaire y chante la gloire de Louis XV et du Maréchal de Saxe face aux troupes anglo-hollandaises. Bon état du texte et des planches.
