Text block has cracked front hinge, intermittent spine breaks, foxing to frontispiece and title page, occasional light foxing within. Illustrated: b&w frontispiece portrait and plates with tissue guards (engravings). Inscribed to J. Laurence Chamberlain, governor of Maine in ink by the author on front endpaper.
