Um ihre Werke kunsthistorisch einordnen zu können, wird einerseits ihr künstlerischer Werdegang, wie ihr Studium an der Universität der Künste Berlin und der Unterricht bei dem Maler der Neuen Leipziger Schule Alex Bär, nachvollzogen. Der Text gibt Einblicke in ihre Arbeit als Galeristin der Achtzig-Galerie und als Kuratorin des Museums der Berliner Schule. Die von Achtzig in ihrer Zeit in Amsterdam, in der sie bereits 1990 ihre erste Galerie gründete, ins Leben gerufene neue Kunstrichtung Berliner Schule bezeichnet ausdrücklich die figurativen und abstrakten Werke gewisser Künstler von der UdK, zu denen auch Diana Achtzig gehört. Ihre Paare platziert sie an Orten von historischer Relevanz, wie z.B. die Filmfabrik in Köpenick, aber auch Grenztürme fungieren als geschichtlich kontextualisierende Elemente. Die sinnliche Darstellung ihrer Paare wird in einem nach dem kubistischen Kompositionsprinzip gestalteten Bildraum verortet. Ebenfalls setzt sie sich mit der Emanzipation der Frau auseinander, wie im Bild 'Der eigene Weg', der die Künstlerin in ihrer Rolle als Galeristin zeigt.
