El día 6 de agosto de 1921, "El Comercio" anunciaba en portada el viaje de su director al escenario de la guerra de África. Justo cuatro meses más tarde (el día 6 de diciembre), Adeflor hacía las maletas para regresar apresuradamente desde Tetuán a Gijón poniendo fin a esta larga corresponsalía especial. Entre las dos fechas mencionadas, va a hacer llegar a su público 113 crónicas, más otras tres que añadirá luego a su vuelta, bajo el título de RECUERDOS DE CAMPAÑA. En estas crónicas, las pequeñas historias personales van de la mano de la crítica política y de la denuncia valiente de la sinrazón de la guerra, o de las condiciones lastimosas de los hospitales de sangre, o de los deficientes equipamientos de los soldados.
