Seltene Dissertation des berühmten Geologen, Astronomen und Afrikaforschers über die Geologie der Siegburger "Hausberge": Michaelsberg, Riemberg und Wolsberg. Overweg (1822-1852) ist heute besonders als Teilnehmer der Expedition von Heinrich Barth und James Richardson bekannt. Er lieferte wichtige Beiträge zur Erforschung der Sahara und ist der erste Europäer, der das gesamte Ufer der Tschadsees mit einem Boot entlangfuhr. Durch seinen frühen Tod sind die Ergebnisse seine Forschungen lediglich durch seine Briefe an Barth, dieser für seine Publikationen verwendete, bekannt. - Papier gering gebräunt, Umschlagseiten etw. angestaubt u. stockfleckig, sonst gutes Exemplar.
