Published by London, Ackermann and Co., 1856. full sheet measures 32 x 22 1/2ins .Plate impression approx 19 1/4 x 26 1/4 ins. Text reads .This View of H.M. Steam Frigate "Geyser" when off Mt. Edgecombe./ Is with his permission, dedicated to Sir John Barrow, Bart. Secretary of the Admiralty by his very obedient Servants.Built after the Plans of Sir Wm. Symonds. Engines 280 horse power, by Messrs. Seaward.(Additional text gives dimensions, weight and armament details) Starboard view of two-masted paddle steamer Geyser, under steam but also with foresail hoisted. A British ensign is flying from the mizzen mast gaff, while three signal flags are hoisted on the main mast. Two guns starboard can be seen on deck as can a small tender hoisted on the davitts. A small sailing vessel with just its top sails hoisted is visible just off the port bow. A four-man cutter, with two naval officers and a cox is going in the opposite direction in the foreground. The coast is clearly visible with a large house, which appears to be Mount Edgecombe, looking out over the Plymouth Sound.
