Le second nous emmène en Alsace, notre auteur étant nommé au parquet de Colmar ; il est par la suite nommé avocat général à Bastia de 1842 à 1844. Son témoignage sur la Corse à cette période est particulièrement intéressant. C'est de Lyon (tome 3) qu'il assiste à l'avènement du Prince-Président.
