Car ce n'est pas le progrès technologique qui nous sauvera du malheur engendré par lui-même, c'est en reconnaissant que le règne du feu n'est qu'une contingence historique que l'on pourra se libérer de tout déterminisme fataliste. II est urgent d'échapper à la chaleur technicienne et au moteur thermique, qu'aucun biocarburant ne rendra jamais propre, et de s'orienter vers d'autres technologies, synonymes de nouveaux modes de vie et rapports sociaux. Un ouvrage riche de nombreux exemples, original, stimulant et optimiste. L' auteur Alain Gras est l'un des principaux penseurs de la technique en France. II est professeur de socio-anthropologie des techniques à Paris-I où il dirige le Centre d'étude des techniques, des connaissances et des pratiques (CETCOPRA). II a publié une douzaine d'ouvrages dont La Fragilité de la puissance (Fayard, 2003), un " Que sais-je ? " sur Les Macro-Systèmes techniques (PUF, 1997), et Grandeurs et dépendances (PUF, 1995). Publié par Fayard en 2007, broché avec une couverture souple en bon état, format 21.5 x 13.5 x 2.2 cm , 281 pages.
