This is a lithograph print after a crayon drawing by Alan Grabham, signed by the artist in pencil and numbered 6 of 10 proofs. The sea holly is treated in a semi abstract form. Born in Bedfordshire in 1960, Alan Grabham was raised in Yorkshire and the Midlands where he studied for a degree in Fine Art, graduating in 1983. In 1986 Alan moved to Cambridge and began his career as a professional artist. Initially he painted images of historical Cambridge, later using more abstract images using both painting and printmaking techniques. In 1995 he joined St Barnabas Press creating work using Silkscreen, Etching and Relief Printing, and in 1999 he moved his studio from the bottom of his garden to the Press. Since then he has concentrated wholly on an exploration of the abstract and emotional aesthetic. Alan also works in collaboration with master printmaker Kip Gresham (The Print Studio, Cambridge) in creating works for some of the most highly regarded artists in the UK and internationally.
