Unlike other Pall Mall Press titles, there is no mention of "Editions du Grand Damier"; the printing, if not the publishing, can be attributed to Bruno Durocher [Bronilsaw Kaminsky]. The name "Alan Mac Clyde" was a popular house name in the 1920s and 30s for various Parisian novels with flagellation / sadomasochism themes. Rebound in boards with green cloth spine. Shelfwear. The title has been excised from the original and pasted down to the front board. Interior pages are thumbed, and it is studded throughout with photographic corner mounts where a previous owner had added photo-illustrations, of which two small ones survive on the title page and two attractive images featuring rope bondage, approx. 5.5x3.5", are present on the front endpapers. Good.
